Walking

Walking Holidays in Bulgaria have always been popular with native bulgarians, but are now increasingly popular with walking enthusiasts from around the world.

My personal favourite area is the Rhodopi Mountains, which is in the south of bulgaria, straddling the bulgarian / greek borders.

The Rila and Pirin Mountains are the highest ranges, and great for the serious walker or mountaineer.
Thet are simply stunning, and like the Swiss Alps in my opinion.

The Balkan Range which runs through central bulgaria is beautiful, and I think this is an ideal choice for a gentler walk than the Rila and Pirin.

The pictures of the hikers which appear in the current rotating top site banner were taken in the countryside about 20 Km outside of Varna, on the Black Sea Coast during June 2005. The nature, flora and fauna is simply stunning.

Below are some links to walking holidays for you to check out. Or you can suggest your own sites to add to our directory.
